Last month we celebrated Dental Hygienist, Becky’s 30 Year Anniversary with Henderson Mill Dental Care. We appreciate her dedication to HMDC as she reached this milestone celebration of service. She is our third employee to reach the 30 year mark, which we believe is very special!
The 105th Annual Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting was held in Atlanta March 23rd to 25th at the Georgia World Congress Center. Staff and Doctors of Henderson Mill Dental Care attended various continuing education, lectures and social functions. Dr. Uetsuki and his wife, Melanie attended the keynote lecture on Thursday, which featured Dr. Sanjay Gupta as the guest speaker. Later that evening they both attended the annual General Chairman’s Reception honoring the 2017 Speakers and Hinman guests. The reception was held at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta.
Each year in February during dental health month Henderson Mill Dental Care representatives visit various local schools to help educate young students on the benefits of proper oral hygiene. As in years past, the schools were visited by either Becky or Izumi to teach students the importance of caring for their teeth, as well as proper techniques for brushing and flossing. They spend about 30 minutes with the students and make sure they have an understanding by engaging students with questions, props and sometimes a video. Our focus is on lower elementary students so they are able to develop an early foundation of good dental care. Each student leaves school with a goody bag, which this year included a pencil case, magnet, flossers, tooth brush and tooth paste.
On Saturday, December 10th Henderson Mill Dental Care Doctors and Staff were invited to the home of Dr. Uetsuki to celebrate the season. Our annual Christmas party proved to be another fun filled evening. Schedules were tight this year so we had fewer in attendance but the party ensued. Guests socialized over drinks and hors d’oeuvres prior to dining on seasonally prepared food by the talented chef, Jeff Haeger of Crooked Tree Cafe. Guests dined on slow smoked beef brisket, citrus brined chicken, quinoa cornbread stuffing, balsamic roasted brussels sprouts and brown butter sweet potatoes. We also enjoyed a delicious eggnog pudding with gingersnaps and Dr. Soulimiotis and his wife brought a divine white chocolate cake from A Piece of Cake.
On Halloween, Henderson Mill Dental Care celebrated by going back in time to the 1950’s. Our doctors and staff got into the costumed roles, and several staff members coordinated their efforts. Many of the ladies dressed as “Pink Ladies,” but we had other 50’s attire too. We were clothed in poodle skirts, lots of pink scarves, plaid shirts, cuffed jeans and leather. Our Team enjoyed treats for breakfast and a luncheon in the break room, which was creatively decorated by Business Assistant, Charlotte, who had came in on Sunday to surprise everyone. Charlotte brought in many delicious food items like homemade breakfast pastries, “mummies’ in a blanket, and specialty Halloween homemade cakes to share for breakfast and lunch. Staff also brought in a few items to share like meat balls, a dip and chocolate pretzel spiders. Throughout the day patients were asked which costume they liked the best. At the end of the day, Assistant, Korlu was awarded best costume. We unanimously agreed, and she was awarded with a basket of goodies that included an assortment of tea, coffee, chocolates, taffy, a mug, lotion and a candle.
October was filled with celebrations at Henderson Mill Dental Care. On Thursday, October 20th we celebrated bosses day. Staff surprised office manager, Linda and Drs. Cook and Uetsuki with a luncheon that included BBQ pulled pork and chicken, slaw, chips, dips and salad. Of course we can’t skip dessert with a selection of homemade banana pudding and a chocolate Oreo trifle.
At the end of July we celebrated dental assistant Simone’s 20th year anniversary with Henderson Mill Dental Care. She became our ninth employee to reach this milestone (eight are still with us!) Doctors and staff treated Simone with gifts and surprises throughout the day. She received our traditional gift of roses from Angie’s Petals and Parties in Embry Hills (one rose for each year of service) as well as the all-important 20 year gold and diamond pin, designed and created by Star Blaze Jewelers in Tucker.
At Henderson Mill Dental Care we have eight employees who have served HMDC and our patients for over 20 years, and two for over 30 years. In late May we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of our administrator/office manager, Linda. It would be most difficult to reach our high level of patient care without Linda’s organizational skills and guidance. She is an invaluable team player.
On December 5th, Henderson Mill Dental Care held their annual office Christmas Party. This year Dr. Uetsuki and his wife, Melanie, hosted the party at their home. The event was attended by all doctors, their spouses and the majority of staff and their guests. Dr. Steve Morgan and his wife, Caron were also in attendance. We are so thankful for their continued attendance and always look forward to catching up.
