Each year in February during dental health month Henderson Mill Dental Care representatives visit various local schools to help educate young students on the benefits of proper oral hygiene. As in years past, the schools were visited by either Becky or Izumi to teach students the importance of caring for their teeth, as well as proper techniques for brushing and flossing. They spend about 30 minutes with the students and make sure they have an understanding by engaging students with questions, props and sometimes a video. Our focus is on lower elementary students so they are able to develop an early foundation of good dental care. Each student leaves school with a goody bag, which this year included a pencil case, magnet, flossers, tooth brush and tooth paste.
This year Henderson Mill Dental Care visited Henderson Mill Elementary, Evansdale Elementary, Nesbit Elementary, Graves Elementary, Shallowford Presbyterian School, The GLOBE Academy, St. Timothy School, Briarlake Elementary, Tucker First United Methodist Preschool, The Heights Preschool, The Galloway School, Seigakuin Atlanta International and Main Street Preschool. This year we saw over 2,200 students and 200 teachers. We gave out more than 2,400 bags of supplies and spent more than 35 hours volunteering at schools during the month of February.
We really appreciate Becky and Izumi’s commitment to visiting the schools and providing this invaluable service to better the education of our local elementary students.
Dr. Uetsuki and his family also volunteered at The GLOBE Academy during their Science Night on February 23rd. They educated students of all ages on the importance of taking care of their tooth enamel. They focused on acidic and sugary foods and their effects on tooth enamel and means of prevention.
At Henderson Mill Dental Care we take pride in supporting our local community and are pleased to offer these services each year.
