For the last 22 years Henderson Mill Dental Care has been participating in Dental Health Month each February as part of our community outreach efforts. This year was no exception and our team was out in full force.
Dental Hygienist, Becky and Treatment Coordinator, Izumi visited 13 schools, presented to 2,000 students, 200 teachers, and gave out over 2,200 care packages. Each January our staff meets to put together the care packages to send home with the children that are visited. The care packages included a toothbrush, toothpaste, flossers and a microfiber cloth for parent to use for cleaning glasses and electronic screens.
This year Becky and Izumi visited Henderson Mill Elementary, Evansdale, Nesbit, Graves, Seigakuin Atlanta International, Shallowford School, The GLOBE Academy, Briarlake, The Heights, Main Street Preschool, St. Bede’s Day School and Tucker First United Methodist. We love visiting schools and providing this type of education, which is near and dear to our hearts. We hope that the instruction for children at such a young age will make a positive impact toward getting them started on the right tract for a healthy mouth for a lifetime.
Also during Dental Health Month, Dr. Uetsuki presented at The GLOBE Academy during their Science Night on February 25th. Topics included proper brushing and demonstrations on enamel and the effects of soda and sugar on the teeth. During the presentation, he quizzed children and their parents, using part of an exam that dental students receive in dental school. He used stacking blocks as a visual to demonstrate questions on surface exposure. It was an interesting puzzle for most and he was surprised at how many students were able to make the connection.
Thank you for welcoming Henderson Mill Dental Care to your school and we look forward to continuing our support each year.
